Agnus Dei

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much  as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short."

The Mystery of Faith

Christ Has Died

Christ Will Come Again

Radio New Jerusalem is dedicated to communicating the good news of God's salvation through Jesus Christ. In Saint John's vision of the culmination of human history as described in the book of Revelation, the  holy city, new Jerusalem, descends from heaven.  From the throne comes the pronouncement that God, in that day, will make his dwelling with humanity and bring an end to all human suffering.  Shifting tenses to the present, the proclamation is made that "The world of the past is gone" (Rev. 21 1-4).

With the death and resurrection of Christ and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Church, a brave and bright new day did, indeed, dawn. And, thanks to the faith and perseverance of our predecessors, those that have lived and died for Jesus and for us, we still bask in the light and warmth of this day that the learned have dubbed the "Church Age."  And as it is Mother Church that nurtures and sustains us, it is, conversely, the responsibility of her spiritual offspring to pass this great and timeless truth of Christ's salvation down to future generations. The challenges for modern
defenders of the faith are, in their own way, even more daunting than "dungeon, sword and fire,"  yet we are no less commissioned by Christ for this task than were the faithful of old. And it is by the nature of this divine commission that we know that in the end we shall emerge from this world victorious; that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the New Jerusalem as it so happened with the old.

Over the past 4,000 years, Jerusalem has symbolized the longed for dwelling of God with man.  It was here that Abraham's hand was stayed before Isaac could be sacrificed to God, foreshadowing the sacrifice of God's own son.  It is the glorious gilded capital of the Imperial Israel of David and Solomon and it is the desolation of  foretold destruction and exile among the pagans of Babylon at the hands of Nebuchadnezzer.  Jerusalem would arise from the ashes of history to await her long anticipated Messiah and, when he arrived, offer him up to the cruelty of the occupying infidels.  As we are told in Hebrews, Chapter 13:

The bodies of the animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for the atonement of sin are burnt outside the camp, and so Jesus too suffered outside the gate to sanctify the people with his own blood.  Let us go to him, then, outside the camp, and share his degradation.  For there is no eternal city for us in this life but we look for one in the life to come.

It is through the mysteries of the Catholic Faith, preserved for us down through the ages by the faithful followers of Jesus Christ, that we make our way to him outside the camp of this world. By joining ourselves to the cross with him in the sacrifice of the Eucharist, we may come to share his degradation. And by joining him in his degradation, we are sanctified by his blood that we might also share in his glorification and so be resurrected with him into the eternal City of God that we look forward to: the New Jerusalem.  Radio New Jerusalem seeks to serve as the broadcast service of this approaching City of God, announcing the good news that our Lord approaches.

This message of Radio New Jerusalem is broadcast to the world by the power of the Holy Spirit. It has come down to us through the Scriptures, the Sacred Tradition, and the Faith of the Catholic Church. It is to this very moment and always will be available to the faithful heart that is tuned to God in prayer.  The name of the program is The Mystery of Faith, a trilogy broadcast  in these episodes, "Christ Has Died," "Christ Is Risen" and "Christ Will Come Again."  In our own humble way, we will do our best to keep the message of God's programming coming through to you loudly and clearly by providing access to the best Catholic Christian information on the internet and the airwaves.

The world of the past is gone.  The City of God approaches. This is Radio New Jerusalem signing on.

A Brief History of Radio New Jerusalem

Radio New Jerusalem was begun as a support ministry to Christian short wave radio in 1998. The original intent was to provide an educational online resource that would introduce the American Christian public to the largely ignored international medium, serve as a forum for discussion of topics presented on the large American broadcasters (WWCR, WHRI, etc.), and  to provide an outlet for the sale of rebuilt Hallicrafters and other classic tube short wave receivers.

During 2002, a profound family spiritual crisis lead my wife, Jean, and I to the Catholic Church.   Prior to this, we had been unchurched Christians of a Protestant background, and as such found our religious and spiritual needs met by a number of evangelists, educational ministries and preachers on the short wave "church of the airwaves."  Our daily guide on this spiritual journey became the short wave service of EWTN, and in no small way God used this broadcast service, as well as key people in our lives, to lead us home to the Catholic Church.

In response to our conversion, Jean and I sold an established cottage rental business in northern Michigan and bought the Santa Rosa Hotel in Sebring, Florida in 2003.  While this resulted in many long term spiritual benefits, the short term was a grueling and hellacious experience that  tried, tested and strengthened our faith through betrayal by friends, near bankruptcy, overwork and, ultimately, the destructive yet strangely healing effects of three hurricanes during the summer of 2004.  Throughout this time, Radio New Jerusalem lay dormant.

After returning to Michigan in March, 2005, Radio New Jerusalem was reworked into a Catholic format, receiving a major update in March, 2006.

During the summer of 2007 we struggled to come to grips with the rampant heresy and outright apostasy that is life in the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, and for several months actually left the Catholic Church. We attended services with a Mennonite congregation during this time, and while there was much here that was warm and good, we ultimately came to more fully understand and deeply miss the Real Presence of Jesus in the Mass.  Late in 2007, we returned to the Catholic Church with renewed intentions to fight for the much needed reforms for which this Diocese cries out to God.

While absent from the Catholic Church, Radio New Jerusalem was reformatted into a more generic Christian web site in order to appeal to a wider base of Christian believers.  The old Catholic pages were subtly linked into this new format for the benefit of our Catholic friends, and when we returned to the Catholic fold it was determined that the Catholic portion of the site should be updated and improved and that the Catholic message needed to be strengthened to reflect our experiences within the Diocese of Saginaw.  It also seemed beneficial to maintain the more generic part of the site to serve non-Catholic Christians in their own search for truth, and thus improve and stregthen the overall ecumenical and evangelical outreach of our web presence.  And so Radio New Jerusalem now consists of two fully functional web modules that are united in proclaiming the One True Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to continue to improve the quality and usefulness of this site that it may serve as a beacon to souls in search of the loving and healing light of Jesus Christ and that it may also unite Christians of all stripe in healing the Church that is mother to us all..

The Radio New Jerusalem web site is humbly dedicated to God Our Merciful Father, the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all of the Angels and Saints that protect and pray for humankind from heaven. It is our prayer that all who enter here may be as richly and abundantly blessed as we have been. Amen.

Yours Sincerely in Christ,

Philip D. Ropp

Each page is categorized and contains links grouped by topic.  There is a Google powered search engine on each page that can be accessed from the bottom of each topic section, as well as from the page main menu.  Searches can be conducted either locally on the RNJ site or globally on the entire worldwide web.  Reference links are provided beneath the search engine to facilitate ease of movement between the search and various page sections.

To view the maximum number of web resources in the most convenient way, it is recommended that a tab equipped browser such as Netscape 7.0 (or later) be employed.  This will allow the user to open numerous tabs to the various web sites being explored, provide the easiest method for moving between these sites, and minimally tax the computer's resources.  Radio New Jerusalem is best viewed on Netscape 7.0 (or later) at a monitor resolution of 1024 X 768 pixels.  Free Netscape software is available online.  Click here to Download The Netscape Browser.
